American novelist, essayist, and short story writer F. Scott Fitzgerald died #OTD in 1940. He is best known for his novels depicting the flamboyance and excess of the Jazz Age. His second novel, The Beautiful and Damned, propelled him further into the cultural elite. His third novel, The Great Gatsby, received generally favorable reviews but was a commercial failure. Following the deterioration of his wife's mental health, he completed his final novel, Tender Is the Night.

kjw810,

@gutenberg_org I wonder if you can help me. I would love to find the book, Candle in the Window, by Margaret Hill McCarter in an eBook format. Any help would be appreciated.

@kjw810 I found it at Google books, have you tried it? Couldn’t find it at @internetarchive

kjw810,

@gutenberg_org @internetarchive Darn! I've never done anything with google books. Hopefully I can figure that out. I have an iPhone. Can I still use it, like on the computer?

gutenberg_org,
@gutenberg_org@mastodon.social avatar

@kjw810 Of course you can once you have an internet connection

kjw810,

@gutenberg_org Internet is good. I know there are lots of blind people who can navigate google books, but I am not one of them, lol, although I did find it. I think it's even free.

@kjw810 Yes it’s free since this book was published in 1925. Haven’t found any audiobook version of it

kjw810,

@gutenberg_org Well, I found the actual reading inaccessible but I was able to page through it on the computer, so i guess it will do. If Gutenberg ever gets it, I know I'll be able to read it.

@kjw810 I just suggested it at @DProofreaders forum.
