My new year's eve. I'm still on the page 1, so I don't know if I like it or not.

@bookstodon This really hasn't gotten me excited so far. I'm only on page 25 and I have hated this so far. I try to read further, sometimes the beginning is difficult, although later on the book becomes interesting. The beginning has still been unpleasant.

(I have read other books meanwhile)

@bookstodon This is so disturbing. I don't like the world. I don't like that this kind of story starts from childhood. This storyline has really disturbing start. I'm not sure do I want to read further. Page 58 of 848. Not sure that this is worth of spending time.

xanxa,

@Omom4075 @bookstodon - I love "Kushiel's Dart". Superb and IMO not at all like 50 Shades. Yes, there's a BDSM element but it's dealt with in an elegant and sophisticated way.

@xanxa @bookstodon Well, bdsm doesn't necessarily bother me. It depends on how it's descriped and what kind of is the plot beside that. I wasn't interested in Fifty shades because it sounded to me like there is nothing else in the story (I sure might be wrong ). And I was understood also that it depicted a bdsm relationship on an unhealthy basis.
However, I haven't read it, so this is just an image that could be correct or wrong.

@Omom4075 @xanxa @bookstodon a lot of people argue that what 50 shades portrays is actually just a physically and emotionally abusive relationship without any of the stuff like consent or aftercare that are core elements of bdsm.

@Omom4075 @bookstodon Kushiel's Dart isn't bad, "Fifty Shades" sort of erotic. Read it years and years ago, as I recall.

@Grizzlysgrowls @bookstodon I actually haven't read (nor watched) Fifty Chades of grey because it didn't sound interesting. So let's see if I like this.

@Omom4075 @bookstodon Struck me as amusing that the human eye can distinguish 500 shades of gray. So the book should have been longer. 🙂
