We don't just review espresso machines and grinders on CoffeeGeek. We also review coffee makers.

Like this OXO Brew 12 cup model.

It's not cheap. It is their competitor to the swiss army knife that is the Breville Precision Brewer (https://amzn.to/4ajrFDT).

I'm not convinced it is a better choice than the OXO Brew 9 Cup Model, which is $80 less.

First Look scheduled for later this month.

@coffeegeek @coffee The Behmor v3.0 might be worthy of a review. We just replaced our old Behmor v1.0 with it.

Even though it looks identical (i.e. still kinda ugly), it's significantly-improved. The carafe maintains temperature for hours longer despite looking unchanged, the brew is stronger. I feel like I never hear about this machine but others might like it.

@zachnfine @coffee I reviewed the V1 on the old website a few years back. It has the same issue all the Behmor products have: an engineers' product. IE extremely complicated UI for the average user; you need to really read the manual front to back to understand how to use it. Other than that, it did a great job at brewing coffee.

I should get in touch with Joe Behm to see if he wants us to review the new V3.

@coffeegeek @coffee I just followed the instructions once and then never changed a setting for years. My altitude, water quality, and beans were pretty stable. Maybe I wasn't doing things the way a normal (or serious) coffee drinker would.

I think setup hasn't changed in v3, so there's still more calibration than may be the norm. I built a PID-controlled sous vide system built on a microcontroller once upon a time so had some idea what it was probably doing internally.

@coffeegeek @coffee I replaced my Breville Precision with this OXO a few months ago. The 9 cup wasn’t big enough for my household. After reading the Dirty Cup article recently, I’m trying to find a nice reusable filter for it. Hoping your review will cover reusable filters that fit in the commercial basket well!
