To combat and revive their farmland, the villagers in Surajpura, Rajasthan, constructed a 15ft mud wall and trench system that spans nearly a mile.

It successfully conserved rainwater and redirected it to dry farms, reinvigorating them for the first time in over 20 years.

The water efforts led to the replenishment of wells, return of migratory birds, and the comeback of villagers who had migrated in search of work.
