Just seen 12 runs scored of a single ball. Never seen that before.
Bowler messed up a delivery and the ball bounced twice. That’s a no ball: 2 runs and a free hit.
The batter is still allowed to hit the no ball. He hit it for 4. Total of 6.
A no ball must be bowled again. And it’s a free hit which means the batter can’t be out directly from that ball (they can be run out). Anyway, the batter hit the free hit for 6.
@smurthys@jtwcornell91 It’s been 2 in competitions I’ve been watching on YouTube recently. It’s down to the playing conditions of each competition it seems. Base rule is 1.
@ianRobinson In the US, I need to pickup Willow every summer to catch the IPL, The Hundred, (this year) the T20 WC, (maybe the MLc), some of the Big Bash, misc other matches… then I let it go again as the season ebbs.
It's a bit cold and gloomy at the Oval, so I'm in the Alcock Balcony, which never gets sun but is at least shielded from the wind and rain. I would also like to welcome our Tripod overlords to the #cricket. 🏏 #CountyChampionship
@ianRobinson There's three devices plus the camera for the streaming. I think the near one might be the speed gun because it's bang in line with the pitch. The two white ones are slightly off-centre.
"My dad pulled up YouTube when I was young and that's how it started. To stop me bowling with a bent arm and no balls, he said, 'Bowl like Jeff Thomson and you won't have that problem'."
