There was someone on the radio saying if they didn't want anyone to sit next to them on the train they would pat the empty seat eagerly and smile every time someone approached them. Of course, no one sat next to them 😁
@FediThing Wait … isn't the flaw that if you did this eventually someone would sit down and the person who did sit down is probably exactly the type of person you do not want sitting next to you? 🤔

Here's a guy in my neighborhood riding such a bike and I always wonder how he even gets up there. 🙃
@FediThing Well my impression is that actually most of the people who had these were young guys who liked to go fast and the expectation of wearing a full suit and riding one is not correct. A modern idea of how we expected it to be.
P.S. I normally cycle in jeans and jeans were actually invented around roughly the same time as these bikes. So maybe that is not wildly inappropriate after all? 🤔
