Dear fediverse: I’m looking for a portable, durable AM/FM radio set to take on bike rides.

I know I can stream radio, but when I’m commuting home after a long day, all I want is to switch on a radio like I’m in a car.

Any suggestions?

@civicDetroitDan

I have done this! But a little bit more awkward a setup.

Speaker, a Bluetooth "Soundcore Mini 3" little device, stuck into my backpack or saddle bag

Radio, my Moto g(7) power which has an "FM Radio" Android app. Antenna is an ordinary pair of headphones plugged into the headphone port.

The whole setup worked a lot better than internet streaming, because inevitably there would be cell phone dead spots and the sync would be lost. But still all in all kind of janky.

@w8emv @civicDetroitDan yeah, seems like any number of mid to low tier phones have FM radio reception. If you carry a phone with you anyway, that'd be the obvious go-to.
