@f39 I often do the following thingy as follows: I go to cool people that I already follow and follow some of their followers or followees that is a good starting point and works for me.
@f39 probably somebody has already suggested following @lisamelton and then leapfrogging from people you find there? you can also follow the hashtags directly. I also suggest a few of the daily photo hashtags, like PhotoMonday, FensterFreitag, and maybe Mosstodon just for a different angle. :)

Ok from a data point of view, it’s all in how you sort. So I do lists for specific topics. The rest I follow hashtags and try to find people organically. It takes a bit of time. I also am a heretic who doesn’t really like the web version or app version last I tried and use Tapbots ivory.
So the question is what are you looking for? Behavior biology ?
Cognitive neuroscience?
Epigenetics? Are you a coder?
The 3d stuff is it related or is it for 3D printing?
@EVDHmn Thanks for pointing out ivory! I think I'm just looking to find new breakthrough work in cog-neuroscience, (and any of my other interests really). I code/design and am in new tech r&d. Right now I'm working on glsl shaders for volumetric rendering of fmri data transformed to SDFs. It's going slowly 😅

@f39 my best advice to start is to follow hashtags as well as accounts! The ones you list are good to start, and #MastoArt is very heavily used for a visual arts feed
there's a reasonably active neuroscience community here. @PessoaBrain and @NicoleCRust are both active and their feeds will lead you to many others
@f39 hashtags are the basis of at least half of my feed. If you use a browser interface and not just an app I can show you a pretty powerful trick that sorts hashtags into columns
Go into your settings and enable "advanced web interface". That way you can set up lists and it looks exactly like Tweetdeck, except you can also add hashtags to those lists.
