JulieEmery,

Do any of you who ride have any experience with bikes? My husband is very close to purchasing the City Model 1. Pluses? Minuses?

@JulieEmery Seems to me they’re using Bafang motors. I’d prefere Bosch or Shimano for repairs and spares parts. I know that Bafang has some spares too, but I think they don’t have trainings for mechanics as Bosch and Shimano do. Also check you have a local bike shop that is able to fix and service the bike. Ebikes are ridden more and weight more so service is typically needed more than just once on a year.

@JulieEmery I have also considered buying an ebike.

@JulieEmery I don't own one, but a few notes from me and the other bike mechanics in my shop just based on the website: if you have the means, spend a little bit more and get a mid-drive motor. The hub ones are generally much lower quality and companies don't often provide support if anything goes wrong. Also the wheel will constantly go out of true. 1/…

joe,

@JulieEmery They look like nice bikes and the price is right. I went from a Rad Power Bikes 2018 RadCity to a Specialized Turbo Vado SL 4.0 because Rad just wasn't offering parts anymore the the electronic gubbins broke. Looking at the Denago website, it doesn't look like that is an issue. I would have a think on your level of confidence that you can get parts in 5 years, though.
