This war in Gaza is a chance for Putin to leave Ukraine, support Israel, abandon Iran, and everything will be back to the way it was: they renew the gas and oil trade, get most of their money back, their yachts, and their houses in St.Tropez and Cap d'Antibes.
Given the nationalistic brainwash and the resentment against the West and NATO in particular, however, that is a stretch... they also could have developed a prosperous economy, could have,... but didnt...

@xs4me2@jmcs@pewnack@ErikJonker@geopolitics The real question isn't if Russia will reply to an US attack on Iran: Russia's conventional army can't deal with Ukraine, imagine the US and Israel combined. Russia won't use nuclear power against the US to defend Iran, isn't worthy for them. The question is if someone will take a shortcut and nuke Iran.
Iran was quick to deny any involvement. And US’s old style cannonboat demonstration will make sure they wont… this demonstration of power might even influence the situation in Ukraine. Including Israel’s rather neutral position.

They can then get closer to their preferred winner in that war: Putin.

@pewnack@ErikJonker@geopolitics Remember NATO? If the US moves ships into the Black Sea and Russia attacks them (which such a provocation pretty much guarantees), then either the war spreads across all Europe or NATO falls apart.
