It's the core of our problems here. All our issues with harassment and scolding arise from the fact that a few people are now able to do crap online that they wouldn't get away with without repercussions offline. Most of us will never do this shit cause of our empathy, at least once we understand the issues involved. But a few unconstrained jerks will ruin any party.
@wjmaggos To be fair, the “Internet Tough Guy” thing existed long before social media did. It’s not hard to find stories of people on local BBS’es threatening to beat people up for disagreeing with them.
