First long press on the upvotes/time on the top right, to have the lower bar expanded.

Just FYI, you can long press anywhere on the body of the comment and don't have to specifically on the upvote/time.

Not sure if this is because it was fixed in a newer version. I am using 0.0.34 from the Github repo. What about you? Here's a video in action.

Can we get like, an entire magazine or large post of tips and tricks like this for using a federated platform? I'm very new to all this and I understand there are going to be growing pains and a learning curve, but the sooner I know how to use little shortcuts/things like this the easier and better it'll be to adapt :)

I think lemmy has a documentation website, and even though it's called documentation, it can be helpful when you want to add a community that's not already searchable.

I do have a tip for kbin too, which is to visit your Settings sooner than later and opt into notifications so you can actually be able to respond back to people. The default is very barebones which I guess is good

Unfortunately, it seems the settings do little to impact on mobile, where I spent 99% of my kbin/Lemmy (previously reddit) time.

My feed won't show my sub and always defaults to All and I do not get notifications - despite settings being selected and saved.

Hopefully soon we see some QOL fixes as we progress - or better yet some sweet, sweet apps.

Oh I browse on mobile on the browser too. I think you can click the button with the 3 lines and click Subscribed instead of All to get your subs.

This is also janky atm, but if you want to see your list of the magazines you subscribed to, there actually is a way xD You click Profile, then there's a bunch of metrics (number of boosts you did, threads you made, etc. ), and you scroll to the right until you see "Subscribed". When you click that, it shows your magazines so you can go to them. I'm sure they'll make this a lot easier to get to in the future

Have never received a notification.

And unfortunately even when I look at Sub only, it shows magazines I'm not subbed to.

It's submitted by others as a known bug as well.

That's a weird bug. If you set this one - Notify me of new threads in a subscribed magazine - even that one doesn't show notifications? But I guess it's weird it's not notifying you of my replies to you, it should at least do that. If I didn't get notifications of your responses, there's no way I'd be able to know about it I think :/ Sorry you're experiencing this.

Honestly, I have been trying to cut back from screen time and be more present for my family. Uninstalling Reddit has been a amazing. But, discovering Lemmy has been a bit of a set back, lol. Not receiving notifications is probably a good thing for me at this point.

Thank you! I do have the notifications set up, but I really wish the notification icon was...more visible than it currently is. I liked that Reddit's notification was a red bubble of sorts, this one is just a very plain looking number with a slightly darker bubble around it, almost blending in with the rest of the top bar. As someone else mentioned, some QoL changes will definitely help and I look forward to seeing how things progress.

Your link is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for, thank you again. I'm not sure how dissimilar kbin and fedia are (I have an account on both but started a magazine on fedia), but it would certainly be helpful to know how to post a thread vs a microblog (currently when you go to select "Add new post" in the upper right, it creates a microblog instead of a thread...which is a bit confusing compared to Reddit). Also some further explanation of the moderator side of things like the badges, tags (what do these two do exactly? How do you use them?) and appearance sections. I'm sort of a novice when it comes to CSS and JS and while I like the potential freedom of being able to really customize/stylize the magazine using those, some more basic selections/features would be preferable.

If Jerboa can follow comment links from the inbox natively, why does it let Android handle the links everywhere else? Maybe Jerboa could insert a little link button next to every hyperlink so that you can choose whether to open a link with Android or natively with Jerboa.
