Thank you so much for your support! 😍

I just saw an email from Buy Me a Coffee. Not just one. I went in, and I'm truly shocked. Thank you all for the support; I would like to thank each and every one of you individually someday. Honestly, I don't know what to say. The account balance is $350, which will definitely allow me to develop kbin faster or at least not worry so much about equipment costs. Today, I don't have the headspace to think about how exactly I'll use it, but I will definitely consult with you and report back in the future. Thank you also for all the kind words, suggestions, and questions. They are equally important to me.

I'm sorry that the current circumstances are such that kbin isn't functioninng as it should, but it has given me additional motivation to keep fighting. That's for sure.

ktuser,

Can someone post a link to the buymeacoffee page so I can donate?

I'd definitely say it's probably a good thing to look into how to get monthly ongoing revenue to help with server costs / development.

I get that right now with the massive influx of people coming across, the attention might be on rapidly pushing out improvements and getting things stable, but at some point getting some sort of funding would help ensure the future stability of the site as it continues to expand (and it should rapidly if people actually flee Reddit on June 30th)

notfrank,

@ernest I would like you take all my money. Well, at least some of it. Ok, maybe a little bit each month.

Basically, as a Reddit-divorcée I want to give you something I never gave her…a reoccurring payment of some sort. A “cup of coffee” tip here and there doesn’t seem like enough. To me, you are far more “subscription-worthy” than any “let me give you nothing but call it a ‘premium’ service” add on or “pay me to tell people you are who you say you are” gimmicks. You are providing a valuable service, and should get a little something…you know…for the effort.

Here, have some more

pwnstar,

With $350 worth of caffeine you could write thousands of lines of code! Just think of all the features, bug fixes, and bugs you could introduce!

a) get a backlog voted by the users to be developed.
b) don't cave to greed.
c) work with a community if you intend to build one, not against it (like spez... u know)...

GromitTheOmlette,

@ernest sorry if that isn't the right way to reach you by the way, I'm still getting used to this

Hey man idk how large your community is working on kbin here. Another user from Reddit migrating and I truly want to see this turn into the best version possible. Reddit was build by its mods, and it's pretty clear kbin will need that type of structure; someone has to take the first steps, essentially. In all honesty I have no experience with anything software related really and all I have is a garbage fucking laptop but I'd like to help with this site in any way so if you need it, let me know. Maybe it's simple stuff, but I imagine that any assistance helps tremendously. If you'd like me to, I can mass post on Reddit to get other mods that are migrating on board with doing the same, but I am of course not them, so I can't make any promises there. Good luck to you, and I hope this project turns into something amazing.

pax,

@ernest hey, could you fix the send post to a community picker for blind users?
I mean the thing that allows me to send a post somewhere, it doesn't show communities which I'm part of, atleast for me.
and it should show only those, or add possibility to hide the communities that you are not part of.

leogorrus,

Anyone who wants to chip in to help a developer having their life made very exciting very quickly by, let's say, acute PR issues at their little project's two larger cousins: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/kbin

@ernest Just wondering if there's anything we can do to help to offload some of the development burden?

Im cloning the repo now and I'll take a look at the issues to see where we can contribute, but is there anything in particular we can do, or issues we can look at, to offload some of the pressure? I'm a platform engineer by trade, but happy to look at app issues.

You're doing a great job with the influx!

@ernest -- keep this up. You're kicking ass. This service has great bones, and I hope to stick around.

MikeHancho,

Thank you @ernest! First day in the fediverse and liking kbin a lot so far. Hoping to stick around to see how it all turns out. Wish you the best of luck in this
