I’m always baffled by the suggestion that an could write my articles for me. That only works if plenty of people have written a very similar article already, which begs the question why I should write it in the first place.

@senficon Of course, proponents of generative AI don’t understand the purpose of creative expression at all, it seems

@senficon a lot of articles written by humans are not very original either, just browse some blogs :-) , so for general informative content, not necessary original, LLMs will do fine in the near future i think

@senficon I’ve been using ChatGPT and read the responses like articles which were customized to my request. It has also been great for creating a custom tutorial. Often Google search results lead to articles or blog posts which do not fully cover what I am looking to learn so I have to piece it together from multiple sources. This takes more time.

Would I have it write articles that I would publish? I think it could prepare useful content which has not already been covered anywhere. Yesterday I was curious about Chaos Monkey so I asked ChatGPT.

The responses were useful to me especially the last part which applies the principles of Chaos Monkey to mobile and desktop app development.

I Google'd and found a blog post on this niche topic but is not nearly as helpful.

So I could keep these response to myself or I could draft a blog post of it. You tell me. Would that be useful to anyone?

@senficon Maybe not you specifically, but it does seem like a lot of modern journalism is just reporting on articles from other journalists in other outlets. LLMs could do that just fine.

@LouisIngenthron @senficon been there, done that.
result: nope

@Zeugs @senficon lmao @ we have so many euphemisms for "died" that AI can't parse or convincingly replicate them.
