@downey I think a lot of us non-admins just want to enjoy the ability to communicate with our friends on Threads. ActivityPub can be used by anyone. It's an open protocol, yet somehow a lot of people seek to make it open for everyone, just not for the people we don't agree with.

To be fair, some ways in which it could be less bleak:

• Fedi relies on shared blocklist, at least for Threads, and through the collective work of modmin teams the bad actors are neutralized

• Modmin teams signalled early where they stood; folks have already sorted themselves by staying put or switching servers. Probably less true for the largest servers where I imagine the relationship is more user/customer than member of a community

• takes longer than 2-3 months

That said, I don't see how it isn't one of these:

• goes badly, as feared and warned by OP and others and myself

• doesn't go badly, because Fedi modmin teams end up doing Facebook's moderation work for them
