It should come as no surprise that the lemmy.ml admin team took about 2 minutes to decide to pre-emptively block threats / Meta. Their transparent and opportunistic scheme to commodify the fediverse and it’s users will not be allowed to proceed....
Its now running on a dedicated server with 6 cores/12 threads and 32 gb ram. I hope this will be enough for the near future. Nevertheless, new users should still prefer to signup on other instances....
Edit: I was searching for a “meta” community, since this is a post on Lemmy about current Lemmy limitations… But it turns out that this might very well be off topic. I apologise if it is the case… I would gladly take suggestions on what community would be best for this post, BTW.
I know that lemmy’s moto is if you don’t like it here make your own, but for communities with big sub numbers and where current event discussions happens. banning controversial political opinions is not what I would have expected from the fediverse after having left corporate media, which could be excused for having to...
Tried to make on new account on lemmy… It did work in the end (obviously). Good thing there is the audio version to read it for me. (sarcasm, I know it’s supposed to be for accessibility purposes. Still used it though)
According to the modlog for !worldnews, @yogthos (display name: ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆) was banned by the instance admin @davel on March 20, 2024 08:52:45PM for “spam”. Upon examining the most recent 119 posts in that community (6 pages from lemmy.ml/c/worldnews?dataType=Post&sort=New to...
This might spark outrage but can we note ips to accounts so if they mass register, other servers get notified through federation and deactivate those (new) accounts or block registration at all?...
My apologies if this is a known issue or dumb question. Is there a reason that when subscribing to !superstonk there are no posts showing up? I am subscribed to it as a user of lemmy.ml but nothing is there. When I browse to lemmit.online/c/superstonk there are many many posts.
So I'm part of a discussion about moderation on lemmy.ml, and it seems better to ask the community directly instead of continuing to speculate from a distance: What's the attitude here towards political debate and specifically criticism of the Chinese government? Is that allowed, or will mods delete it?
Based on concerns from both the admin team and most users here, the lemmy.ml admin team decided to add wolfballs.com to our blocklist. There is just too much reactionary content that breaks almost all the rules we have here....
Lemmy.ml seems to block access to any requests with the specific user agent string “kbinBot” (and not just “Bot” or “Kbin”, so it seems very deliberate), which means the ~51.000 users on kbin.social don’t see anything new happening in Lemmy.ml communities....
On my main (@Choco617), I moderate !technicaldeathmetal. I thought I’d kinda federate my existence on the platform by creating this alt on lemmy.ml, but when I search communities, while I can find some other lemmy.world ones (validating that .ml/.world federation is working as I understand it), technicaldeathmetal isn’t...
It seems lemmygrad.ml is federating with them and I was just wondering if this instance will too. I used to browse r/chapotraphouse before reddit banned them and I didn’t know the community was still alive in hexbear until recently. I’m sure a lot of leftists in this instance would also benefit from being able to browse...
I’m still not sure how upvotes/downvotes are distributed regarding the different instances in the fediverse, whether unfederated instances have an impact etc....
I recently migrated from lemmy.ml to lemmy.world to help with decentralizing and server load. I've noticed that a community I moderate, c/worldbuilding@lemmy.ml, is not updating: one of the mods I added isn't showing up on the sidebar, and a mod I removed is showing up. Plus, if I visit my community from lemmy.ml instead of...
