Raise_a_glass,

The only reason Tuberville is able to hold things up is because the senate generally votes on these all at once and that type of vote is required to be unanimous. If republicans want to play games, the senate majority leader should bring up these high level positions one at a time and hold normal votes.
It wastes time, but at least it helps get around this nonsense.

neptune,

Is Tuberville running for President? Of Belarus? Really no explanation for this besides bad faith, in the worst sense.

poopypants205,

Tuberville is definitely compromised

btaf45,

Why do Republicans hate America?

lolcatnip,

Don’t be silly, they don’t hate America…just the good parts.

antangil,

Don’t we have the concept of recess appointments to cover these shenanigans? Wait for congress to recess, fill the posts, rinse and repeat.

fiat_lux,

"Rivals on the world stage"

The world is not a theatre and I'm not an extra in an audition for the lead actor. Perhaps a more collaborative approach would yield better results and fewer perceived threats.

@fiat_lux

"Rivals on the world stage"

Does not refer to individuals

Bit dense, are ya...

fiat_lux,

Usually when someone doesn't understand what I'm saying, I assume I haven't been clear enough and I'll explain further. Had you asked, i would have done so now. But you didn't, so I'll leave it at:

I wasn't implying that the US's world stage rivals were literal individual people auditioning to act in an actual theatre production.

well, i guess they're just going to go ahead and try the theocratic military coup

awwwyissss,

I wonder how much he’s being paid to support the Kremlin’s genocidal land grab.

Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville, who represents Alabama, has blocked hundreds of military nominations from moving forward, saying the Pentagon is improperly using government funding to cover travel costs for abortions for service members and their dependents.

Huh. Not the excuse I would have imagined, but somehow not at all surprising.

zaph,

It becomes especially enraging when you put it into context. Servicemembers volunteer to serve on active duty and as a result cannot dictate what state they live in. This is a way for the military to say “it’s okay to join because we’ll take care of our own if you’re forced to live somewhere that doesn’t help you.” Now this dude is trying to take away another recruiting tool and hurting his own cause of getting more trigger pullers.

MedicPigBabySaver,

Nice job you pathetic scumbag Republicans.
