I use a custom filters for uBlock Origin:

www.youtube.com##:matches-path(/)a#thumbnail[href*=“/shorts”]:upward(7)

www.youtube.com##:matches-path(/)a#endpoint[title*=“Shorts”]

Might need some adjusting depending on OS and browser (I use this for chrome on mac.)
