The announcement at reminded me that I contributed code to Titanium back in 2010 to embed into their application for building desktop apps.

Since PHP was embedded rather than distributed as a static binary, Titanium itself could parse and run PHP code. It was an interesting concept, but then mobile app dev took off and Titanium decided to focus there instead. https://speakerdeck.com/ramsey/desktop-apps-with-php-and-titanium-php-tek-2010

@ramsey when support for ffi came out I thought everyone would start writing PHP desktop apps. That was a very false thought apparently
