deeneyhart,

@politics What do you folks think about throwing a former president in prison?

Let’s launch them into space in a massive tesla instead. All of them. Billionaires too. Well call it Fesh Start Initiative.

I mean it’s where they all belong…

dr_catman,

The United States, to the best of my knowledge, does not yet have an election for King. The president is not the sovereign and neither is any former president.

So… if there is enough evidence to convict a former president of a crime that carries a prison sentence, then off to prison they go. They’re just another private citizen and deserve no special treatment (even though we know they will receive it).

jordanlund,

It doesn’t happen often enough.

Nixon, Reagan, and Bush Jr. were all criminals. Bush Sr. too, but less so.

If we had actually been prosecuting them for, say, the last 50 years, then idealogues like Trump wouldn’t try to fake anything.

spaceghoti,

No one should be above the law, no matter the office they hold nor the party they affiliate with. Republican or Democrat, President or Congressperson or judge, they should all go to jail just like anyone else who commits a crime.

captainlezbian,

It really depends on if the evidence indicates that they did it. If it does beyond the same reasonable doubt I get, and that’s the typical penalty for the crime? Do it. If it doesn’t don’t. And if they tried to refuse to cede power even according to their own vp? Then I think they should be held there before they see the end of a rope. Democracy is fragile, and at times it takes strength and unity to maintain

President, Congressperson, Senator, they all should be put in prison if a crime was committed, and if that crime is treason, they should get worse.

mufasio,

I think it’s a good thing. Let’s do Bush and Obama next.

nocturne213,

I am down, got a list of charges for them?

mufasio,

How about we start with this and this?

Cableferret,

I think it sets a horrible precedent. We’ll never be able to get people into politics if we start holding them accountable for their crimes!

CatsGoMOW,

If you’re found guilty of crimes, it doesn’t matter who you are or were.
