Well, which ones are taking money for—oh, right. All of them.

NateNate60,

Are there any better sources for this? I feel like “heated.world” may not be the most reliable.

silence7,

Not yet — they’re the first to report on it, and have a real history of doing US climate politics reporting.

Ranvier, (edited )

They’re just showing that oil companies help fund the Republican attorneys general association, an organization that helps support the elections of republican attorneys general. They link the tax documents right in the article so you can see for yourself, just click the link and control f for some of the fossil fuel companies they listed. The attorneys General that filed an amicus brief are all Republicans that belong to this association. This is all publicly available information.

Dark money flowing into attorneys general has been reported on by others, this blog is most interested in environmental issues, but here’s a similar story from the guardian talking about the broader issue of RAGA serving as a dark money vehicle for corporate interests.

This organization was also involved in the “stop the steal” coup attempt stuff and played a direct role in the events of January 6th, causing donations to dry up for a while, but corporations started pouring money in again more recently.

This isn’t totally isolated to just RAGA. There’s some conflict of interest concerns with corporations that give to DAGA as well. They both can serve as go betweens to help companies give money to attorneys general without donating to them directly.

silence7,

Talking Points Memo has followed up with a somewhat broader story covering the same topic

Still hasn’t broken out of the left-wing press yet.
