@outofcontrol I used to have pi hole on my network for about a year.

But sadly DNS based ad blockers are really annoying, when you work in the advertising industry 😂

@michael Pihole does have groups so you can manage when you have ads and when you don’t. It otherwise, yeah, probably not a great combo. No birthday present for you this year! 🤪

@outofcontrol yeah, and then the annnoying this is that even when you do whitelist something, the DNS cache takes quite some time to update…

So I’ve mostly changed to uBlock Origin for ad blocking on the desktop, and Adguard on my phone.

I do have NextDNS on my home router for the family though, but have a separate profile for my laptop, that only blocks the bare minimum.

@michael This can be an issue in the family, when someone visits an e-commerce site that has the checkout scripts blocked, they get very annoyed at husband/dad. :(

And then after a while, any broken website becomes husband’s responsibility - even when it’s just the site that’s broken 🙄😂
