@vwbusguy One thing I love is that pretty much every grocery store here in MN has all the stuff I used to have to go to bevmo or specialty stores for back when I was in CA, I'm not a huge soda drinker (I mean, they're basically dessert, so I treat them as such) but there's a few I like, Cheerwine zero, Boylan, and occasionally Jones, there's also a local brand that makes a few good ones. I was shocked to find places out here that even stocked Bawls on the shelf, hadn't seen those in ages.
@raptor85 The unique stuff in my hometown sadly isn't bottled, but there's an ice cream shop that's been open for more than 100 years that still has a fully working soda fountain and they make their soft drinks to order. Always a fun treat to take my kids there when we visit my side of the family.
@vwbusguy I have an older sodastream (though I'm looking to upgrade it with just a standard dispenser that uses larger refillable bottles, apparently the trucks that refil them aren't that expensive to call in, lol). I love using it to just carbonate whatever the heck I want, and mix my own flavors. I'm not big on sweets/sugar but I do like the carbonation and bubbles so it's both way better in terms of cost (carbonated water is expensive!) and just better variety as I can put whatever in it.
@vwbusguy yeah, mine you can do that too, my issues are more of just I'd prefer to use a bigger/more standard tank that's refillable, and an actual dispenser head that mixes instead of carbonating individual bottles, mine's also getting older and doesn't hold the bottles very tightly anymore so it uses a lot more co2 to carbonate the water.
I'm not much into pork, and I actually avoid it unless it's pretty heavily processed, but to me, bacon in collard greens is more a required spice than meat. :D
