It's really hard to beat the versatility and overall personality of a Fender Strat, but that lack of sustain when you're soloing up on the tiny strings really creeps up on you quickly when you're used to a Les Paul or Ibanez.

@vwbusguy a totally different, related, question. Have you tried playing the strat tuned down half a step? I've read a few times that some consider that the best place for a strat. I don't know if it has anything to do with the scale length, but I almost feel there's something to it.

@AndreasDavour I heard recently that SRV often did this live.

@vwbusguy apparently Jimi played that way as well.

@AndreasDavour I'm not sure how often Jimi tuned his guitar at all in general 😅

@vwbusguy well I have seen video footage from him on stage tuning, so it did happen! :)

peterbschmidt,

@AndreasDavour @vwbusguy Jazz Thing, makes chords easier that go well with Horns (BB), I heard.

@peterbschmidt @AndreasDavour Makes sense. Most trumpets are tuned to Bb.

@vwbusguy @peterbschmidt huh! I've learned something new!

@vwbusguy you can always just crank the amp to get some more power... ;)
