Kagi, once again showing what happens when a search engine's values are aligned with its users' instead of trying to find ways to SELL the users.

I asked about macOS email clients and one of the results had a red shield. That's not normal, so i clicked it. 24 ads / trackers detected, and since they don't earn money when you see ads, they are motivated to warn you that that link might be something you want to avoid.

@masukomi whoa. thanks for sharing this… hadn’t heard of kagi but after some trial runs it seems pretty good!

@patrickhills Kagi is the 1st Google alternative I've found that has results that are just as useful as Google's, and i just keep discovering new things i love about it (after using it for months) The main dev behind it is very responsive to feedback too.

I'm increasingly unhappy with Google's sketchy surveillance behavior and the search results are increasingly low quality crap. I'm HAPPILY throwing my money at Kagi, but i search so much i'm on the most expensive plan. ;)

@masukomi yeah I was looking at those plans… between the quad threat of dev/designer/photog/videog/woodworking… my searches are probably off the charts. Gonna need an unlimited plan! Have you hit your limit all yet? I’ve never really thought about how many searches I do.

@patrickhills there is a screen where you can see how many requests you have made. I just watched that and it was clear that I would blow way past everything but the unlimited

@patrickhills honestly, it made me question how other people use the Internet because the number of quarries I do is so ridiculously beyond those limits

@patrickhills It was hard for me to find the page with your usage stats. It's here

https://kagi.com/settings?p=consumption&range=1

the 1st month i was trying it i think i was looking like i was going to WAY more than the pro plan.

looking at the past 5 months though, it looks like i'm typically between 600 and 900 so the pro plan would work for me.

But, kagi's still pretty small, and i really want to see it succeed so, I think i'll stick with my Ultimate.
