@eldritch48 I work at a warehouse for money. While I work at home making ( my movie project ). I plan to continue something like this forever. Never to accept the main project to bring any money.

jeffzugale,

@eldritch48 clarification: I’m not doing any client work and haven’t since Nov ‘22. Selling paintings is picking up now, but I still had to sell my 67 Camaro and cash out my IRAs to zero out my debt.

eldritch48,

@jeffzugale Yeah my last client gig was the first week of January.

jeffzugale,

@eldritch48 you’re definitely not alone. Hollywood is shut down, most of the ADG 800 people aren’t getting any work either. It’s bad.

eldritch48,

@jeffzugale One of my big fears is that even when things come back, because there's no "sliding scale" of people who are already on shows and thus not trying for the new jobs, it's going to be a MAD rush, where only the most well connected people get work.

jeffzugale,

@eldritch48 very likely, but rather than fear it, figure out how to compensate. Look into other industries, and also keep in touch often with your previous clients, ADs, PDs, CDs etc. There’s never quite enough well-connected people to fill all the demand when it blows up.

eldritch48,

@jeffzugale That's always the "go-to" response to keep the guns out of our mouths, isn't it? :D

jeffzugale,

@eldritch48 I suppose, hahaha, but it’s still true. We all gotta do whatever we can to weather this storm. I’ve been cutting way back on expenses and really trying to think outside my previous sandbox. Survival mode’s a bitch.

eldritch48,

@jeffzugale I've had very few jobs since April 2022, so I feel you....that was my last consistent employment. Just doesn't feel like there are any opportunities out there...at least ones that pay what we need to live.

eldritch48,

I'm somewhere between "yes but" and "no" - I am doing some illustration, but nowhere near enough to pay the bills.

eldritch48,

This is a weird industry where people often seem to feel like they have to be unflaggingly upbeat and never talk about the bad times...I don't think that's healthy...for a lot of us, it's SCARY out there right now.
