@the5thColumnist@DanielTuttle I think many folks are also still too addicted to corporate SMs & their shitty algorithms. They don't know how to transition to Mastodon & they also stay on FB & IG because most of their family & friends are still using both too.
Most of my offline family & friends are in still in those boats described above.

I remember Netscape was a paid program but you could download the beta version for free and it was always fine, and there was always a new beta version available.

I remember being completely amazed by ICQ a lot. It was my first instant messenger type of tech. I loved ICQ & miss it.

Pretty sure mine began with ab as well. My files from that era were, of course, originally on floppies, but I know I've moved them to CDs before getting rid of my floppy drive. I should put everything onto a flash drive soon.

I view social media as a big party with so many people that it's impossible to talk or interact with everyone. So, if someone wants to talk to me, that's great, if not, that's great too. No pressure, no worries.
@TexasCre8ive I see it that way too. I also know some people only follow POC women to stalk them & you're not a POC woman who has had to deal with all sorts of unwanted BS from folks. You're far more privileged than me.
@TexasCre8ive You're lucky to be able to be blind to racism still affecting many of us. You have both white & male privileges that folks like me will never have. We want more ppl with privilege to understand & speak out more on fact you all have more privileges than we'd ever have in our lifetime.
