@jacqueline "people who can't fuck with capacitive inputs"? That's me! 😀 You probably already evaluated the possibility of running rockbox on the tangera but it cannot work or would be a bad idea for some reason?

@josch maybe a port would be possible, but there’s aspects of the esp32’s architecture that make it very hard (psram), features that we’d need to add ourselves anyway (bluetooth), and at the end of the day the rockbox codebase has a lot of baggage that makes it, imo, way harder to hack on than it needs to be.

it just ended up making a lot more sense to start fresh!

also a d-pad kind of way of using the capacitive touch. and scroll acceleration that is not very well dialed in.

browsing a similar menu, but now using the top and bottom of the click wheel as up and down

@jacqueline That’s awesome! What type of motors are you using? I have no idea what you’d need for the quick spin up/down torque you’d have in such a small package.

@aphistic just one of those generic little erm motors. we need to do a little more testing, and it’s a little weak, but nothing unsolvable
