@taylorlorenz@muslim You need a lot more evidence than that to claim censorship (which doesn’t apply here anyway as it’s a private platform). Seems more likely that - since the algo shows people what they’re going to enjoy - that many people simply don’t want to see what you’re posting
@eyrea@taylorlorenz@muslim 100% agree, especially given the utter lack of transparency in how those algos actually work. Anyone who cares about free speech on social media should absolutely be on the fediverse - “free speech” as defined by anyone else, be it an exec somewhere or an algo - is not free speech.
But important to remember that free speech gives you the right to say what you want, not to have anyone listen to you.
@taylorlorenz Meta really does have a news problem -- on Threads, IG, and FB. I take it they are still resorting to technical solutions without the help of humanities and social science types?

I wouldn't call it censorship, it's always an algorithm which controls the content you see on IG and others. But since algorithms something like the secret recipe of Coke, nobody get it if someone put some secret ingredients in it.
