It is possible to manage a nearly 100% renewable electricity system with a high share of wind and solar energy.

This is then commented by an anti-nuclear activist:

The nukesters keep saying this is impossible. They say you can’t have 100% renewables and 0% nuclear, but Uruguay just keeps doing it.

What is missing from the slide: yes, it is possible if your country has a geography enabling it to produce 40% dispatchable electricity from hydro power.

This is pretty much how most “100% ” visions are being manipulated - you take a statement that is factually true, but exceptional and unique to a specific location, and generalize it for all countries. In this aspect Uruguay is similar to Sweden, Norway or Portugal, which have large share of electricity from hydro… and yet you don’t see countries like Germany or Austria preparing to flood new Alpine valleys to increase hydro power capacity.

Twenty years ago in Uruguay they said that wind wasn't an option and that the hydropower lakes were to shallow for a good combination.

Than there was a governement change and science, reason and intelligence got access to the power structures of the system.
Result:
The country of "no se puede" came to an end.

I’ve lived a long time. The one thing I’ve learned is that history doesn’t give a single shit about right or wrong. There is no moral arc of the universe. While poetic, that’s theistic rubbish that suggests there’s some logic to how history unfolds. There isn’t. It just does.

    I was going to add an issue within git.friendi.ca but got a bit lost.

    I couldn't get it to work so I TTRTC (Time To Read The Code).

    I found a reference to the setting 'smtp_secure' from the local.config. php file which is read within the addon/phpmailer/phpmailer.php - line 56.

    I added this to local config, set to true and everything burst into life.

    I can't find any documentation regarding this.

    You can't add more people into already existing posts. They won't be able to display it nore get notifications.
    (if that ever existed)

    You can deactivate/delete mentions, the profile won't get notifications of updates but still can see or search those toots.

    As of now I actually don't need help.
    I have those "tests" already awaiting me in a friendica profile, actually in several, but hadn't the time to check. Also, as toots over here have the 500 character restrictions the amount of info just matched, I'll reply from friendica itself later.
    At the same time I needed to sum up the results to get them out of my head, not forget them or mix them up and delete thes test toots over here as they were clutering real toots.

    Oh speaking of and woes, any good payment processing stuff for that?

    Was looking at but didn't see the 10% fee (on TOP of Stripe, who actually does the work!!). I already got , so anything that integrates with that is good.

    I also have Paypal and Patreon, but the point is more to have as direct and 'on premise' a form as possible not just send traffic over. Plus fuck paypal

    I consider that one thing doesn't have to be on the expenses of the other, on the contrary.

    You should read the translation of the statement by the german vice-chancelor I posted. His statement in part confirms what I stated.

    It is misleading to say " protesting in Germany for Palestine is illegal". It is not. It is illegal to burn Israely flags and cheer hate crimes, that's why the manifestations weren't allowed in any case.

    Misleading is to say in an international context, in this case about Germany and the manifestations over there, "media doesn't cover", when the fact was "UK media" or "international media".
    Misleading is to say "the picture is real" when the criticism is about context created by words.
    "Fake news" is just a populist term for misleading information, half truths and painting pictures in colores you want them to be.
    I consider this a disservice to a cause I guess we share in common.
