I remember , great GUI for the time although I never adopted it, but did use Ventura publisher and AmiPro intead of Aldus and Word, respectively, on Windows

Everything else though, yah, very, very similar history for myself except for the Apple 🍏 stuffs; like you, I'm quite proudly Mac stupid.

It's always good to meet a fellow Slacker, and "frinds don't let frinds run ewb00ntew!"

    You can haz ! 🍔

    0xF21D,

@cloudguy while I don't have as many years to compare with, I built my professional career around Windows, starting with Windows 2000.

    I could advocate using 2000, XP SP3, 7, and 10. I have nostalgia for 3.1 and 98SE.

I don't think there's any going back with Windows 11. There's just too many gotchas, and an obsessive sacrifice of functionality over "user experience" that I've had to bite my tongue on twitter before when a Microsoft UI developer gushed about how great the design of the control panel was (it isn't).

MacOSX is great for about a year after you purchase the fashion accessory it is installed on, but then the stark reality sets in.
