Nobody I’ve seen looks healthier or happier or like they have more to offer the world before their transition.

Other Trans people may not like to hear me say this, but most of us look like we were very, very sick.

How can you look at pictures of people before and after transition and not understand that it is a wonderful thing – that should be available to as many people who need it as possible? Let people be themselves and watch us thrive.

Pibble,

@ryanhoulihan society at large, aka most people, value conformity over health or happiness.

They don't want to see anyone thrive, they want to see everyone in exactly the same mental state they are in because if a person is different than them its disturbing their egocentric reality.

Its kinda ironic, Japan as a whole gives far less of a fuck about trans as long as you entirely assimilate into the bianry role you choose than they do about open homosexuality.

It boils down to presenting as "normal" regardless of anything.

The anti trans people will never be ok with trans or LGBTQ or hell, often cishet people of the opposite sex in many cases, and god forbid you have a different skin color.

  • Pibble,

    @ryanhoulihan I mean tbh its the same in pretty much any society, being a closeted, masc, het presenting gay man, or a fem, het presenting les woman is perfectly acceptable in the states, you probably won't get harassed, you probably won't be looked at twice. As long as you stay closeted... Or better yet, tattoos, if you cover them, nobody gives a shit that you have them.

    Its just the name of the game.

    Its fucking stupid, and childish, and betrays the simple minded nature of the majority of people as they are incapable of mentally processing anything outside of their routine. But it is reality sadly.

    Stupid ass game, the points mean nothing, the rules change on a minute to minute basis, nobody wins, some just lose faster than others, thats life.

    MHowell,

    @ryanhoulihan
    There's a local drag queen bingo I've been going to off and on for years. Most of the patrons are a lot like me, moms in their 50s-60s. We like seeing our young people thrive. Bianca Lynn, the hostess, tells how she grew up in a small rural WI town, and went to bingo with her grandma. It can't have been easy.

    maj7152,

    @ryanhoulihan The transphobes don't want you to be happy. All the more reason to transition and live your life, comfortable in your own skin.

    @ryanhoulihan

    There are entire swaths of our society that have a deep need to hide that people can thrive without it being centered on their flavor of organized religion.

    VoxofGod,

    @ryanhoulihan Invariably I see an inner glow that is always stronger than the hate and pain you have to endure

    And I have now met/lived with more than one person in transition and yeah I recognize a joy and peace that I Don't understand making me admire The courage the produces that joy to no end
