@codinghorror isn’t this (Time magazine article) logic backwards? “Important” people can’t be without their phones, while they wait to get a replacement and restore it to their latest backup, which inevitably will be missing some data.
If anything, they’ll protect their devices to prevent downtime.
@codinghorror Meanwhile I've owned several mobile phones:
Ericsson A1018s (2001)
Nokia 3310 (2002~2009)
ZTE T54 (2009~2013)
ZTE T81 (2014~2015)
ZTE T83 (2015~present)
Not one of them has ever had a phone case. What is the point of making a sub-10mm phone with no protection, when the case you put it in instantly blows the dimensions out to being thicker than a more ruggedised phone?
@codinghorror If “stealthy wealthy” is mortgaging your iPhone with AT&T and adding premium AppleCare to it, than I’m rich biatch! (Always been a case iPhoner tho. I’m clumsy af)
@codinghorror have you tried using just a pop socket or other magnet-handle solution? I find that they make the phone easy to hold without adding so much bulk.
@codinghorror I shattered the screen on the first iPhone a month after I got it and used it like that for 3 years. To this day I still don’t use a case. Have never shattered another phone either.
@codinghorror that doesn’t seem like the best price. My wife was offered £550 for an iPhone 13 Pro Max and we didn’t bother sending it in because that’s a poor return even after two years.
@codinghorror I’m not using one because of the design since the 4S. But now I’m thinking of having one just because these lenses on the back stick out so much on the 15. (Lot of difference compared to my previous 8)
@codinghorror Unless you need a metal that is easy to work, or is very rigid (having a high elastic modulus) .... but yeah Ti is pretty great otherwise, curious what specific alloy is using (Ti on its own is pretty brittle stuff).
