Can anyone remember the last time something good happened at the global level, or a time when one of our leaders said something that wasn't completely wrong or awful? It feels like everything is taking us in the wrong direction, and has been for a long time.
*) yes this is nuanced, not everyone got as easy access as they should have as fast as they should have, for screwed up reasons; the point still stands though
@Floppy I suspect that the main problem is that good news is no news: "Today, nobody got shot in the USA." Not newsworthy, whereas yet another school massacre is news.
@Floppy Every example I think of, I can think of a really good counterpoint.
We are but waring tribes, trying to get all the resources for our kings. Our territory may be bigger, our technology more efficient, but at heart are we any better than we were 500 years or 5000 years ago?
@Floppy ...if you zoom out and look at human history from a distance, at the level of centuries not decades, things are going quite well with regard to poverty, healthcare, work/life balance life expectation etc. 😀 ...but right now we have some issues to solve indeed...
@ErikJonker that's true, absolutely, but it feels like all the people in charge are trying to pull us backwards and undo some of those things, while also ignoring the real problems. Maybe it's just because it's Monday.
