@massivelyop

  1. Sitting on Thunder Bluff watching fireworks with Cowmom, whose actual character name I sadly can't remember

  2. After hundreds of hours in FFXIV, the sight of horses in the Azem Steppes completely shocked me to my core. I was used to unicorns, mounted summons, and chocobos called "horsebirds", but just seeing plain old domesticated horses there bothers me to this day. The immersion is my favorite part of MMOs.

@massivelyop CoH: My supergroup would hang out by the Talos Island el station. Not taxi-botting, not street-sweeping, just Jay & Silent Bobbing it.

Champs: My SG there once had a beach party on Monster Island. Then Teleiosaurus spawned right on top of us, and I wound up tanking in a bikini. Not WoW Outland plate mail, a literal bikini.

@massivelyop When I was in grad school, my partner and I were on opposite coasts. On Sundays, I'd grab a burger on the way back from Mass, and we'd play WoW the rest of the day. :)

@massivelyop Standing at Dion castle prayer for ownership spot in Lineage2 as the timer finishes with so many people standing behind me taking damage and dying as we claimed the castle. That moment cemented that I had the right family.

luzkenin,

@massivelyop Going to the midnight release of TBC on the eve of an epic ice storm and basically getting a week off of work and leveling my hunter.

@massivelyop XPing in the DAoC Midgard frontier zone for the sweet bonus and our whole group getting slaughtered by some solo higher level Alb scout and then spending the next two hours chasing him around the zone.

Dirty, filthy Albs.

@massivelyop my earliest memory of an MMO was letting my character drown somewhere in WoW at the end of a 14 days trial and saying to myself: "this kind of games is not for me"
(Six month later, I was handed a beta key for , and bought a lifetime subscription after 3 months of play...)

@massivelyop
First time clearing the Blackrock in the old 40-person raid, with a roleplaying group and without voice support channel.

@massivelyop Still, just seeing WoW for the first time, going inside the Horde guard towers in particular and experiencing the scale to all those "tiny" buildings I'd built in the RTS WC2/WC3 games for years.

waynen12,

@massivelyop Around 2007\08 a few years after City of Heroes had come out I decided to give it a go. I was in my Early 30s at the time and hadn't really played any MMOs. I remember one evening doing an instance with a random group. I had no idea what I was doing. There was one member of the group who was bashing out the orders to everyone. At the very end he just stopped and and said: "Sorry I have to go. My dad wants me to do my homework".... I quickly logged out. My only memory of COH
