@josh@joepie91 wasting energy to generate moving air in order to displace leaves, of all things, from one place to another always dumbfounded me. Rakes exist, unless you are working with dangerous or impossible to walk on grounds, and you are able enough to carry a leaf blower, you can also handle a rake (exemptions for those that are unable for some physical reason, of course, I'm not trying to be ableist, far from it, my knees don't allow me to pull weeds' roots, so I use a burner+burner).
I guess for folks working for the municipality and collecting leaves every day in autumn, it is saving a lot of hard labour.
Most people complain about the annoying sound of these things. In that regard, I got good news.. in my city I saw them working with electric blowers, and they hardly make a sound. It was even weird to behold.
@smallcircles that I can understand, workers would be making repeated movements while raking for hours on end. I am talking about people doing it in their yards, I assume OP was too.
Electric blowers are eerie because of how little noise they do for the power they have, but since they are newer and more expensive, municipalities don't have that many, when they have them at all. They are trying to squeeze everything from what they already have, which are noisy gas blowers. @josh@joepie91
@smallcircles around here (Portugal, Europe) I haven't seen one outside people's homes, municipalities/the State don't have/use them. Yesterday I had lunch and a municipality worker was using a gas one for the whole duration of my lunch. Thankfully the restaurant was well insulated and it's Autumn, or an open door/being on the restaurant's terrace would have made my ears bleed.
