@stux it seems like windows copilot has a lot of potential issue with privacy. People have a tendency to fork over tons of information to chat it's without realizing it goes to the cloud. It being built into windows will make this even worse.

altim,

@stux Hoeveel CO2 zou 1 prompt uitstoten?

Damn you're fast! Yes, that one. In the stage presentation the CEO described in detail the current and likely future capabilities.

@DemocracySpot Ahhh Unreal also has this!

Even AI (metahumans) connected with openAI for example

In the best case you can use VR to talk to NPCs and have complete conversations!

**I'm not trying to ad Microsoft or Azure

In fact.. i don't really like them

But the hardware is impressive

ScriptFanix,
@ScriptFanix@pouet.chapril.org avatar

@stux
I feel you. I recently followed the basic courses of Azure and AWS and what these can do is impressive. But I still won't use them.

Did that to better help customers who do use those services

stux,
@stux@mstdn.social avatar

@ScriptFanix They are also super expensive :blobcatscared:

ScriptFanix,
@ScriptFanix@pouet.chapril.org avatar

@stux
OTOH, having a whole infrastructure in a state of the art data center is really really expensive so the pay-as-you-go model makes sense for a lot of people. Not individuals, but companies yes, unless there are confidentiality or regulatory barriers

We have customers who have their servers not even connected to the internet! Those are mostly banking, and to them the cloud is a clear no-go

ScriptFanix,
@ScriptFanix@pouet.chapril.org avatar

@stux
"Installation is simple, you just run this ansible playbook and everything is downloaded and installed

  • but our servers can't download from the internet
  • OK so you download all those packages, upload them to the servers, and run that ansible playbook instead
  • but WE can't download from the internet
  • ... Well uhhhh
stux,
@stux@mstdn.social avatar

@ScriptFanix hahaha :bloblaugh:

ScriptFanix,
@ScriptFanix@pouet.chapril.org avatar

@stux
Yeah. I refused to work (directly) for banks, mainly for ethical reasons, but there's also this. You can't do a damn thing without pages and pages of paperwork, and even then...

Yes I seriously turned down recruiters who called me when I was unemployed as soon as they told me it was for banks. Now I work for a free software editor, feels much better ethically, even though many users are unethical (banks, ads, you name it)

pauliehedron,

@stux Does it play Crysis? /ducks :ablobcatnod: :blobsalute: 😂

bjb,
@bjb@fosstodon.org avatar

@stux All that horsepower (and the energy to run it), mostly being misused. Argh.
And don't forget, it's free now but once a bunch of companies cannot run without it ... it will no longer be free.

stux,
@stux@mstdn.social avatar

@bjb yup..

It's not free :ablobwink:

It's actually suuuper expensive! You only get an x amount for each account and after that you gotta buy bandwith so to say

I ran a 'search engine' backed on their API but i had to recreate a new account each day haha! Short lived project

k,

@stux @bjb micro payments for everything, just maxing out profit on their side like AWS
