@taalumot Thanks. Don’t want anything to do with Meta, though. Avoiding large corporations making money off our spirit/friendship is why I left Twitter.
@iraantlers Meta can make money off of anything posted on the web even if they completely give up on this plan. Blocking their users from talking to you — and yourself from seeing them talk to anyone else — only affects you and them.
@taalumot Ok. I really appreciate yr insight & admire yr commitment, Taal, and I know that you’re a social media wiz, but I cannot support Meta trying to colonize & take over this place in any way (and don’t know how else it could be framed). I’ll be alright. Y’all are enough friends here for me.
@taalumot Sorry. Have you read anything @OutOnTheMoors has been writing about this? But hey, my original post above was to announce my intentions, not to argue with my friends about it, okay? Please go easy on me.
@iraantlers Sorry I just don’t want a bunch of mutual friends to finally get here and be pre-blocked left and right and be like “lol Mastodon people continue to be the Internet Homeowner’s Association, guess I’ll leave”
@taalumot@iraantlers threads is like any other instance when it comes down to it, and meta's track record on moderation, like allowing transphobic garbage, is horrible. That alone is reason enough for many to defederate
