I have a clear answer for which topic I'll cover tomorrow, but once I've exhausted that...

Let me try a more specific poll!

Not expecting anyone to answer this Christmas Day/Boxing Day, I can give you a week! Or even a month if Mastodon gave me that option!

I will cover text editing, so I'm not listing it!

Feel free to suggest other networking protocols or editing-mediums! I'll place extra weight on those!

I've got another poll waiting to finish, but as for this one there's lots of excitement for "Collaborative editing via AutoMerge" with "NTP/DHCP/etc network setup" coming 2nd closely followed by "XMPP/VOIP". I'll cover those in reverse order for a better narrative!

Framing collaborative editing in terms of self-hosting this OS's dev! Though so far (poll's ongoing) there's little interest in that frame.

"Audio/Video editing" has decent interest, but I'll defer it until later if ever...

Another couple polls finished! I'm seeing lots of excitement continuing my hardware-browser hypothetical!

Barely any interest in discussing developer tooling, but I think I'll do so anyways as its a neat way to wrap up discussing the core system! Folding the well-anticipated topics of RSS/Atom & AutoMerge into it!

I'll fold the 3rd place topic of eMail into my metathread on XMPP/telephony.

The 1st place was "BitTorrent/p2p-static-hosting", which I think I'll make my follow up thread after dev-tooling. Probably folding in Veilid for extra interest!

As for the close 2nd-place of mapping, I'm not sure when/how to tackle it yet.

Thanks! I've now got a decent schedule to for the next several months, & once I've worked through it my questions to steer future topics will be more qualitative!

Tentative plan upon poll results so far (which indicates to me lots of excitement!):

1. Finish interactive browser features.
2. Text-editing
3. XMPP/telephony
4. Revisit basic networking now that we have UI constructs
5. How'd we self-host maintenance of this OS? Providing creation tools for other things!

Doesn't fully reflect poll results, but I think this is a better narrative!

Beyond this, results still have to come in & I might reconsider...

Thoughts?

These polls seem to have stabalized, but you still have until Christmas to vote.

So if votes stay roughly as they are, here's what I'm thinking...

There's strong interest in my continuing describing how HTML/CSS rendering works. I don't know how much more there is for me to explore, but the 2nd poll helps. Even if you all appear a bit indecisive there! With a slight keyboard/mouse preference.

So I think I'll finish off by describing borders, backgrounds, scrolling, & forms.

I could probably write a meta-thread just on text editing! And if votes stay roughly as they are I might follow this up by discussing editing AutoMerge (CRDTs), HTML, CSS, & anything else requested of me.

Or exploring other network protocols is just-now catching up to that 2nd-place choice, so NTP? DHCP? XMPP? SMTP? I'd be discussing notifications & contacts as part of this...

I may focus on keyboard/mouse (desktop/laptop) interactivity with remarks made to other options.

Thoughts?
