I glad you posted link to lunatic right-wing's plan to trash the American Constitution in favor of a racist faux-christian criminal organization, headed, incidentally, by a moron. This should scare the sh*t out of anyone, particularly EVERY American who bothers to read it....It is their stated plan so better understand what could be coming and act/vote accordingly.
@gimulnautti If this happens, then the American Social Contract - or what's left of it - is gone. If this happens, Americans of good conscience will need to do everything within their power to bring it to a grinding halt, even if it means being martyred in the process. The christofascist machine must be prevented from working at all.
The problem is, too many American liberals begin and end their "resistance" at the polls and won't actually rise up until and unless it affects them.
@angiebaby I heard of a quote I can’t remember who to attribute to, but it goes something like:
”If you aren’t prepared for winning, you might lose when you win.”
I think this intellectual ”slack” is to blame, because what it means to prepare for winning, is after you celebrate you already start preparing for the backlash.
Winning needs to be more about not dropping everything as righteousness was served, but knowing full well the animosities you won over aren’t gone overnight.

If you want a completely functional remake, the Ultimate-64-Elite is the way to go. It’s an fpga reproduction and goes to great length at reproducing the chip-level undocumented and unintended behaviours that are critical to many modern hacks like fast fullscreen scrolling without copying video memory.
@angiebaby my setup probably ended up costing as much. Replacing chips on the original, stable power supply, 1541-ultimate-II disk drive emulator plus cartridge, adapter for switch joycons.. 🙂
@angiebaby got it cheap in 1997 or 1998. Decided to start making c64 #demoscene stuff.
Operated it from a disk drive for a few years. First had the drive plugged to parallel port of a pc, to do the cross-platform operations.
But to keep it running has not been without much more expensive investments in chips with limited supply. And then of course there’s that black block in the back that emulates a disk drive and fastload cartridge, and takes a usb thumbdrive.
