@kylewritescode I’m likely to get one, mainly because I would want to be on the ground floor as a developer before it takes off.

I’m still unsure as to the value proposition from the perspective as a user, though. The price needs to drop under $2K at least, and I’d really like to see it not fall into the “mostly-for-consumption” trap that iPad has remained in.

@kylewritescode This might be a successful platform, but the economics need to pencil out and — more importantly — Apple needs to meet real user needs.

Nobody wants to pay this kind of money for a neat tech demo.

@jeff Yeah, I’d love to get one for the reason you mentioned. But, it definitely needs to be a little cheaper in price.

I see this becoming a market for sure, especially given how better it is than the Quest.

@kylewritescode It really is something different than that, I think, as gaming is clearly a secondary market (if that).

Honestly, I wouldn’t expect Apple to do much in the gaming sphere except for casual iOS-like stuff. Their history shows their heart isn’t into it.

What I want is something I can actually get work done with. Maybe not yet, but once they get the cost and weight/bulk down.

My concern is that it’ll be like the iPad: Great hardware limited by software.

@jeff True, I’m not seeing this geared toward gaming but also being used for gaming, the same for entertainment. Although Apple seemed to really advertise the entertainment aspect.

If it does end up like that and being limited, that will definitely be unfortunate.

@kylewritescode That said, I WISH I could depend on Apple to serve gaming needs.

Flight Simulator 2020 (for example) would be incredible in something like this.

Not sure it’s make it $3.5K worth, but it’d help push it in that direction.

@jeff For sure! That would be amazing. It would be cool for Apple to just make a version of Flight Simulator even. Lol.

But even if they make a gaming model of the Vision that has different specs, that would be cool.

@kylewritescode I can afford it but I work a normal white-collar job making less than an average programmer so unfortunately no. 😳 I did call and get my Apple Card limit increased so I can do the 24 payment thing. 🤣 I was a No on Monday but if i’m being honest with myself i’m 100% preordering. If I don’t like it, get nauseous, or for any other reason I can return in 14 days. :)
