wendynather,

When you have to answer the phone in case it’s the repair guy and you keep getting spam calls 🤬

wendynather,

I miss the days when you could tell by the area code whether it was someone you needed to talk to

@wendynather I sort of have that now, but backwards. I moved with my phone out of its home area, so I know too-similar numbers are guaranteed junk

TindrasGrove,

@ferrix @wendynather same. Anything from my originating state is spam. Anything local is probably the call I’ve been waiting for.

@TindrasGrove @ferrix @wendynather I was just thinking about this yesterday, since I too kept my old area code and moved to a new state. Is this the answer, just get a new phone number with an area code far away from where you actually live?

hdm,

@neballer @TindrasGrove @ferrix @wendynather Absolutely, it works great!

hdm,

@wendynather My life hack was to throw my old number into internet voicemail and get a new one in an uncommon area code. Any call from my new line’s area code I ignore, anything from my local area code is likely not spam. Everything else goes to voicemail.
