Electricity generation is a provincial jurisdiction, I would really like to see my provincial government use these O&G royalties that are creating the budget surplus and use them to build more power generation.
But maybe they can't since they deregulated the industry, so the only thing that they can do is to blame EV owners and the federal government.
They just seem to spend so much time blaming others.

@Perrin49 or they could like...put a "free market" spin on it by, you know, also getting rid of the red tape and roadblocks on renewable power projects that they've been doing for the past few months and let them go ahead and provide energy to that market. They could even provide financial incentives using the O&G surplus to upgrade the grid, build energy storage and even accelerate the diversify power generation.

It wouldn't be perfect but it would improve the situation and they would still be conservative-like. But I guess this sort of thing isn't what Smith wants to conserve...she instead wants to conserve an industry slowly going obsolete and whatever other backwards ideas those "Take Back Alberta (to the 1800s)" have to hold onto the Dinosaur Vote.

@msh Well, there IS going to be new generation coming online this year, then Alberta should have excess capacity.

I just really hate the childish finger pointing. If they want us to "tell the Feds" we don't want blackouts in 2035, what about in 2024? Weasels, all of them
