Hey my fellow weirdos with livestock, how are you coping with this freeze? I’m in Texas, and this last bout of 15 degree weather blew my mind with watering issues. It’s not supposed to get that cold here. I can’t get a grip!
@HeatherFromTexas Yeah, I can heat water that’s already in troughs with electric heaters, but keeping water flowing INTO these troughs has proven to be the problematic issue. We insulated every exposed pipe, disconnected every hose bib, but somehow the only viable water supply is my kitchen faucet. We’ve been doin’ bucketfuls at a time. I have to believe that folks in northen climes have solved this issue, and would love to hear how.
@HeatherFromTexas@iBlame I wouldn't say I've solved it, because I've also had lots of stuff freeze up. Right now I'm also carrying everything in buckets, but fortunately from a frost-free hydrant near the well rather than having to carry from the kitchen sink. I'm so sorry!
