Has anyone developed an email/task/project type system based on Flores and Winograd's Promise-Based Management or similar thing? (Commitment-based management or Ontological Design or Conversations for management https://stream.syscoi.com/2018/08/17/commitment-based-or-promise-based-management-flores-and-winograd-plus-vision-consulting-glennon-and-spinosa-later/ ) - if not, why not?

@dgheath21 could be!

This smells a bit of Sociocracy to me?

The people who came up with the ideas were Dannemiller (Whole Scale Change and the change formula) and Pesut (who seems to like workshop / games etc) - so looks more focused on productive communication between silos.

Anyway, could definitely be used for this - and/but 'I will try' is a get-out answer which would defuse the entire power of Promise-Based Management and of which Flores would highly disapprove 🙂

@dgheath21 it's so fascinating how much comes out of National Teaching Laboratories!

Dannemiller's Whole Scale Change strikes me as one of the more naive whole system change methods - just have everyone sample everyone else's perspective and everyone will snap into working in the service of the whole system - but sometimes naive methods work best!

dgheath21,

@antlerboy thanks for connecting the dots on the background

dgheath21,

@antlerboy interesting! When I learned this structure in a workshop I was taught that the permitted responses are “yes/no/huh?/whatever”. I didn’t even realise that “I will try” was a variant. I’m going to check with Keith about it.

@antlerboy I really wish people would stop using ontology when they mean taxonomy

@snowded well yes, I agree - but you know this isn't like an IT 'ontology', right?

'Ontological design' is pretty interesting... thought I've never quite got my head around it (and I think the Kabbalah symbol is somewhat ironic/representative)...
