I’m going to need to haul down the CDR box of doom from the attic soon, to get all my files into one place. Any recommendations for a reasonable external shiny disc drive for a Mac? Ideally tray loading vs slot, and UK availability.
@craiggrannell I ended up getting the snappily named ASUS SDRW-08U9M-U a few years back for CD "archival" purposes and it's still happily trundling along.
@chrisphin Very kind but as I am ever the procrastinator on these kinds of projects, I’d probably best have one in a drawer rather than end up having yours live here for an inordinate number of months.
@craiggrannell I mean, I haven’t used mine for years, and the reason you know this is that I… think it was a review unit from… MacUser…? (It’s one that could write to a delightfully geeky ‘stone-based’ archival CD-R, but iirc it also writes to regular CD-Rs.) You really are welcome to have it hang around for months. And hey, maybe knowing it’s mine will kick your procrastination!
