    @lzg I find it fascinating that nobody seems to object to teenage girls getting cosmetic breast implants, or teenagers in general getting cosmetic surgery while they're still forming, because they're uncomfortable with how awkward bodies are in that phase of life.

    Threatened by "men becoming women" or "women becoming men," and "removing fetal tissue = infantacide" is imho an external social anxiety unrelated to actually giving a shit about other people.

    MobiusBlack,

    @lzg Curious if you extend this to suicide rights. I do, alot of other's who feel strongly about personal autonomy don't. I consider suicide hotlines a violation of human rights because they can and do dispatch authorities to stop the suicide using violence, if it wasn't for that I'd think they were great. I'm all for suicide prevention up to the point of using force or coercion.

    Unlike some of the other examples in this thread it's not an edge case, suicide is pretty common, and having your life ruined by the psychiatric establishment is also pretty common.

    18+ vertana,

    @lzg Seems like it gets murky when you go passed that step into the one where we define if minors can do it, mentally challenged people, what defines mentally challenged, senior citizens who may not be their own caretakers, and on and on with edge cases.

  • 18+ vertana,

    @lzg In some cases? Because they literallly may not be of sound mind. Especially in cases where there are medical dangers or they may be at high risk of an issue.

    @lzg Quite.

    With the caveat that if ye WANT one of E**n's chips in your brain, perhaps it's not an actual brain you have between the ears t start with...

    klaasible,

    @lzg I have the phrase "body autonomy is in the constitution" in my head, but, tragically, that's referring to the UN constitution in The Expanse. Not much help here and now.
