Is there a decent sleep tracking app for iOS that’s not constantly trying to sell me things? After 10+ years, I think I’m finally done with Sleep Cycle.

I want to pay for something, preferably outright, but I’d settle for something with a reasonable annual subscription ($40/year is not reasonable).

hagedose68,

@Chris I switched from Sleep Cycle to Autosleep many years ago. I'm generally happy with it, and it's not a subscription:

@hagedose68 @Chris Same. Autosleep is what I use, though I find its UX beyond the top level a little confusing.

hagedose68,

@Ardvaark @Chris Agreed!

@hagedose68 @Ardvaark The initial onboarding was a little wonky.

Seemed like you would swipe between screens, but with each bit of info, an "ok" button slides in from the bottom and then it slides for you. Still, that's a one-time thing.

@hagedose68 @Ardvaark Oh, and for UX beyond the top level—I probably won't go too deep into it regularly.

I started using Sleep Cycle for the wake-up phase, but then I read that over the course of the day, that little bit more sleep was more beneficial than the easier waking.

My sleep habits are absolutely terrible, so it mostly helps me see if things get even worse. And when I did try wearing the watch, I did like the extra data in Apple Health beyond what the phone on my nightstand provides.

@hagedose68 @Ardvaark For six bucks, it's an easy buy.

I gave sleeping with my watch a shot when I got the Series 8 in late 2022, but I didn't stick with it long, probably because the band was slightly tight. It has loosened up, so it may not annoy me when I sleep now.

Since this is only tracking and not an alarm (I think), this seems a good opportunity to give Apple's sleep/wake up feature in the Clock app another go.

hagedose68,

@Chris @Ardvaark I always sleep with my watch on. I rarely use alarms, but when I do, I use AutoWake. I think I bought a bundle that included both.

@hagedose68 @Ardvaark I'll check that out too!
