I’ve always loved how Stay Another Day has become a bona fide member of the Christmas Songs club, simply by virtue of its winter release, a few sleigh bells edited in after the fact, and a slew of fluffy parkas in the video.
Other than that, it’s very not a Christmas song. #TOTP

This episode falls smack into the path of me learning to be a smug metal head, who wanted absolutely nothing to do with any of this “manufactured pop shit”.
This is an undeniably great tune, but fuck me does it give me flashbacks to being at the ex-inlaws on a Saturday evening, while The Glitz Mix plays on Wave 105 and my ex and her mum are drinking low quality white wine.
I do enjoy the #TOTP performances where the singer resolutely refuses to pretend that they're actually singing.
I remember being a kid, and my dad criticising the show because "the songs aren't even played live". I took that at face value at the time, and agreed. But now I think that's a load of old bollocks. Live performances would have sucked.
