alex,

Does anyone have self-hosted open-source photo gallery software they like? I am trying to load all of ImageNet (~14M images) for viewing.

PhotoPrism is okay, but it tries to run some kind of inference on each image, so it's slow and it maintains a large cache.

alex,

@daaain I did in the settings, but maybe I have to do this in config. If nothing else works, I'll try again.

@alex gogallery might be worth a look? https://github.com/robrotheram/gogallery

alex,

@zimpenfish I like how the documentation says "Makefile to the rescue" and then the Makefile is broken

@alex Ah, I forgot about that, should have mentioned it. make build worked for me. I'll see if I can fix up the make issues at some point and send them a PR.

alex,

@zimpenfish you are doing the Lord's work

@alex Piwgo is super light weight

kcole,

@alex The 'awesome-selfhosted' repo has a sublist for photo gallery software: https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted#photo-and-video-galleries Among the options there, PhotoView seems like a potential candidate.

I think with 14M images, a lot of these out-of-the-box solutions may still struggle given general system constraints.

@kcole @alex that claims Memories is "advanced" when it lacks core features like nested albums. Not sure of it's providence
